Asana founders Dustin Moskovitz and Justin Rosenstein met while leading engineering teams at Facebook. As Facebook grew, they discovered that everyone was spending more than half their time in meetings, answering emails, and searching for information. The “details of work” became a distraction, and skilled work was falling by the wayside.
So Dustin and JR built a tool that would make it easier for teams to coordinate work. The result not only gave teams clarity about what to do and why, but it also freed them up to focus on big ideas. Dustin and JR were inspired. Soon after, they founded Asana to spend their time building solutions that help more teams get great work done—without the mundane tasks.
