Over the past few months, Meta has transformed WhatsApp with major updates, but these improvements come at a cost: some older devices may be left behind and not be compatible with the new versions.
Despite growing competition from Telegram, WhatsApp remains one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. Meta has focused its efforts on improving the user experience, introducing a new look with an improved dark mode and the possibility of integrating a chatbot similar to ChatGPT .
Continuous improvements and security updates to WhatsApp have left some older mobile devices behind, which may not be able to run new versions of the app. A list of 35 models with Android and iOS operating systems have already been identified as incompatible, and this list may grow in the future.
Samsung is the most affected brand, with 13 models no longer able to use WhatsApp. Meta recommends using devices running Android 5.0 or iOS 12 or later to ensure compatibility with the app.
